1. Happy 4709 to all those celebrating the Chinese New Year! In honor of the Year of the Dragon, we present an image from the Library’s menu collection. In 1900 (which was actually the Year of the Rat) the Lotos Club welcomed Wu Ting-Fan, his Imperial Chinese Majesty’s Envoy to the United States, Spain and Peru, with a special menu featuring the dragon illustration above.
Considered one of the luckiest signs of the Chinese Zodiac, we hope this Year of the Dragon brings you joy and happiness!
