1. Break on Through to the Other Side... Tomorrow Night →

Experienced creative block? (We certainly have, here at NYPL’s Tumblr HQ)

Whether your block is literary, performance, audio or visual - tomorrow night, you MUST (yes, we said must) visit the Library on 42nd & 5th! Alex Cornell (and friends) will be discussing his new book Breakthrough and whether he experienced creative block during the making of it.

    papress:

Breakthrough!, edited by Alex Cornell, offers a compilation of strategies for combating creative block contributed by 90 leading creative practitioners.

It’s  full of practical (“Sit down, shut up, go off-line.” — J.C. Herz, p.91), unexpected (“Check into an expensive hotel.” — Claire Dederer, p.33), and freeing (“Toss the file in the trash.” — Michael Cina, p.103) words of wisdom, at the heart of which is the reassuring notion that everyone (Christoph Niemann,Debbie MillmanKhoi VinhMario HugoJamie Lidell) gets creative block.
