Our Library Lions Patience and Fortitude are turning 100 in May of this year (along with the rest of our landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman Building). The NY Times wrote a great piece about the history of the beloved icons, chock full of several fascinating historical facts (for example, did you know many New Yorkers hated the lions when they were first unveiled in 1911?). Anyway, in honor of their birthday and this great Times piece, above is a photo of one of the lions in sculptor Edward Clark Potter’s studio before being moved to Fifth Avenue. Enjoy!
