1. Want To Win A Spot To Play The “Find The Future” Game?

Are you dying to play Jane McGonigal’s “Find The Future” game at The New York Public Library’s landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman building on 42nd Street? Can you not wait to be in the presence of awe-inspiring objects from our collections while locked in the Library all night? There are only 500 coveted spots - and Tumblr and NYPL are giving you the chance to win one. In honor of the Schwarzman building’s 100th birthday, NYPL and Penguin Classics are releasing a book called, “Know The Past, Find The Future,” with images of notable folks (like Lou Reed, pictured here in a behind-the-scenes photo by Beowulf Sheehan) interacting with their favorite items in our collections. Most of them also wrote essays discussing their object or the Library. This book will be given out for free in NYC starting on May 19 - and now we’re asking you to mimic it. Take a photo of yourself outside your favorite NYC landmark or with your favorite object and post it on your Tumblr with the hashtag “findthefuture” and an explanation of why it’s your favorite landmark or object. A team of judges from both NYPL and Tumblr will choose the most compelling entry to play the game on May 20. You have until end of day May 13. The only rule - you have to be 18 to play the game and participate in this contest. Good luck!
