Are we excited at NYPL? Yes we are. Because Eric Carle, the beloved creator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a host of other best-selling children’s works, will be signing copies of his new book, Friends, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at The New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street on Sept. 30!
The upbeat picture book by the acclaimed author and artist centers around a spunky young boy who braves currents, mountains, and rain before, finally, reuniting with a friend who moved away.
The book – published by Penguin Group USA – is not in stores until November 19, but a limited number will be available for purchase exclusively at The Library Shop during the signing, which will take place in Astor Hall, right through the Library’s Fifth Avenue entrance. Books are first come, first served.
Carle will sign other books - also available for purchase at the Library Shop - but there is a three-book limit. You can find more info on this event here. Hope to see you! And when you come, be sure to check out our exhibition in the same building, The ABC of It: Why Children’s Books Matter. Eric Carle is featured, The Times says it’s great, and it’s free!
