Beat the Heat at the Library
Don’t forget - public libraries serve as New York City cooling centers. If you need to step out of the heat today, find your local branch and come on inside. Queens and Brooklyn Public Library systems, too.

Don’t forget - public libraries serve as New York City cooling centers. If you need to step out of the heat today, find your local branch and come on inside. Queens and Brooklyn Public Library systems, too.
In collaboration with the City’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), all New York Public Library locations are listed as emergency Cooling Centers in heat emergencies. All locations are listed on the City’s online Cooling Center database as well as provided to residents through 311.
As a Cooling Center, all Library locations provide a safe, air-conditioned space to New Yorkers on days when heat emergencies are in effect.
This week, OEM has issued a heat emergency for Wednesday - Friday. If you need a break from the heat, please remember that you can stop into your local library.
