1. The new Kingsbridge Library is open and being visited by its community. And like all other NYPL locations, you can check in on Foursquare and let your friends and colleagues know that you’re getting in some quality library time! Kingsbridge Library Manager Victor Simmons gets the word out in this video, and yes, the Lego lions were at the Library for yesterday’s opening! Check us out at foursquare.com/nypl.

  2. While we’re on the subject of NYPL’s Foursquare Badge (protip: the first step to unlocking it is to follow us), in addition to checking out books, you should check out foursquare cofounder and Family Feud enthusiast Dennis Crowley’s amazing talk “Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Family Feud.”

Meanwhile, Team Foursquare, led by Dens, dropped by to tour our Maps Division earlier today, and snapped this pic with his checkin:

Check out some more photos from their visit on our Facebook page and keep checking in on foursquare.

  3. Checking Out Books? Check in on Foursquare.
The New York Public Library is now on foursquare. Starting today, Library visitors can “check in” from any of our locations across The Bronx, Staten Island and Manhattan, proudly announcing their location to their foursquare friends. If they check in a certain number of times, they get the Find The Future Centennial Badge (seen above) which was designed in honor of the 100th birthday of our landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. NYPL is the first public library to be awarded its own badge, and foursquare CEO and co-founder Dennis Crowley said, “The NYPL’s landmark building has been a New York institution for 100 years, and it’s pretty amazing to see them starting their next 100 by embracing new ways to reach their fans. We hope the partnership will introduce even more people to all the Library has to offer.” So check it out (and check in).
