  3. How the New York Public Library is embracing the art of video games →

A great interview by Polygon with NYPL’s own Senior Librarian Thomas Knowlton and his The NYPLarcade Game Club, a discussion group at Mid-Manhattan Library that focuses on the intricacies of video games. (And a shout-out to The Verge for sharing the piece with their readers and the title of this post.)

  4. Today marks the 109th anniversary of the Wright Brother’s historic first flight at Kitty Hawk. (December 17, 1903). To mark the occasion, we’ve selected this image of the brothers Wright in 1903, courtesy of the Library’s Digital Gallery, where you can find (if you’re so inclined) a wide array of aeronautical images to satisfy anyone’s care for air -planes.

  6. We just had to share this with you! While taking a look at the Library’s Timothy Leary archives with our good friends at The Verge (piece coming to a computer near you later this winter), we discovered that Mr. Leary had a nintendo wrist controller  Power Glove (immortalized in the 1989 film The Wizard aka A 100 Minute Long Commercial for Super Mario Brothers 3)… and Adidas sneakers. Very clean, red-laced Adidas sneakers. This made us very happy.
